Activities at Bailey's Upper

Bailey's Upper has many opportunities for growth in afterschool activities throughout the school year. The activities include:

  • Bailey's Upper Dance Company
    • Ms. Epstein directs the Bailey’s Upper Dance Company (BUDC) after-school Mondays through Thursdays from 3:30-4:40pm.  This Dance Company is free to all students in grades 3-5, and all students are invited to participate, regardless of prior dance experience. Students in BUDC learn various styles of dance including Ballet, Modern, Jazz and Hip-Hop, choosing one style that interests them most. BUDC students participate in both experiential and cooperative learning while studying various dance techniques and working in groups to collaborate on choreography assignments. Students also learn about the history of dance, dance terminology, body strengthening and conditioning, anatomy, injury prevention, choreography, and performance skills. As well as learning dance technique and choreography, students also learn 21st century skills that they can use throughout their lives. Over the course of the year, students in the BUDC add the following life skills to their toolbox; discipline, time management, creativity, imagination, critical thinking, collaboration, team work and responsibility
